About the Author

Rascu, Paul Emil

Electro-mechanical engineer, born on December 3, 1924 in Chisinau, district of Lapusna, married, one child. He has graduated the Polytechnic University Gheorghe Asachi of Iasi, Faculty of Electro-mechanics in 1948. He has developed research activities in the Institute of Atomic Physics, as well as research studies with the Power Studies and Design Institute (ISPE). He has been a professor with the Polytechnic Institute of Bucharest and with the Astronomic Institute of the Romanian Academy.

While in ISPE, he has designed many transformer substations, among which- the 400/220 kV substations Iron Gates, where he provided a unique solution at world level; 400 kV Focsani, in a highly seismic area; the 750 kV substation Isaccea, at the highest voltage level of industrial use. He has written more than 50 articles published in specific magazines, as well as many technical studies and papers addressing topics such as- nuclear power plants; environmental protection; astronomy; earthquakes etc. He has published speciality books- Nuclear Power Plants in Electric Power Systems; two volumes edited by IDT; co-author of Electric Installations of Power Plants and Substations, Technical Publishing House, which has won the Traian Vuia prize of the Romanian Academy.

He has delivered conferences of general interest- history, geography, religion, art etc. to the Central Military Museum, the Library Mihail Sadoveanu, UNESCO Centre of Bucharest etc, where he has always provided not only a thorough documentation, but also interesting personal opinions. He has published the volume Polytheism and Monotheism. Between Moses and Akhnaton. Myth or Reality?, issued in 2004. He has been awarded orders and medals. He has been and still is now, when retired, an active spirit, with initiative and many hobbies and activities- tourism, ski, gliding, underwater hunting, art, archaeology, astronomy.

A study on how to supply water to Sahel (Africa) for intensive agriculture and ending desertification. The paper has been sent to African countries and international authorities of humanitarian aid
